چکیده

In this paper we present ideas that can help to close the gap between virtual reality and embedded interaction, which are usually assumed to be the two extremes of a dimension that describes mixed reality interaction. We present our preliminary ideas on surface interaction with stereoscopic data as well as our work on mobile camera-projector units. While the first line of research tries to increase the degree of the interaction experience in virtual worlds, the second uses the physical properties of the real world to enhance the augmented reality experience. The first idea uses the physical world to constraint the interaction in the virtual world. The second idea embeds virtual information into the physical world by respecting its physical properties.

Thirdspace: The Trialectics of the Real, Virtual and Blended Spaces

This article aims to redefine the concept of Thirdspace and make a trilateral relationship between the three concepts of real space, virtual space and the user. To do so, not only the concept of Thirdspace has to be redefined, but also a new understanding of virtual space as a relatively independent space is required. This three-sided relation requires a new understanding of the relationship be...

Design and Validation of a Conceptual Model for Narrowing the Gap between Intended, Implemented, and Attained Curricula in the Public Education System in Iran

Abstract: The present research aimed at developing and validating a conceptual model for narrowing the gap between intended, implemented, and attained curricula in the public education system in Iran. Two fundamental questions guided this investigation: what model can be developed to reduce the gap between the three mentioned curricula? To what extent does the proposed model gain the approval? ...

Augmented-Reality Scratch: A Tangible Programming Environment for Children

In this paper we introduce AR Scratch, the first augmented-reality (AR) authoring environment designed for children. By adding augmented-reality functionality to the Scratch programming platform, this environment allows pre-teens to create programs that mix real and virtual spaces. Children can display virtual objects on a real-world space seen through a camera, and they can control the virtual...

Use of visual metaphors in virtual environments for teaching and learning: the user point of view

This paper aims to discuss the use of visual metaphors in the development of System Interfaces for Distance Education about the differences between two scholars concerning Human-Computer Interaction: Donald Norman and Jakob Nielsen, whether or not to use the metaphors. The possibility of networking, both as a framework for access and processing of information, and as a framework for exchange an...

Bridging the Gap between Real and Virtual Modeling - A New Approach to Human - Computer Interaction -

Three-dimensional computer-aided modeling of dynamic processes supported by virtual reality techniques such as 3D-stereo viewing and nD manipulation devices does not reach the usability (ease, concreteness, intuitiveness, directness) that we experience in modeling with real physical objects. Pure virtual prototyping may reduce cognition and communication. To solve this problem we introduce the ...
